Potpourri

It means a little bit of this and a little bit of that.

While surfing the internet the other day I saw a sign that said, “Why is it harder to get a driver’s license than it is to get a gun?” The answer is obvious because in civilian life cars have killed far more people than guns ever have or ever will, especially when the idiot behind the wheel insists on texting or doing a DUI or intentionally going through a stop sign or a red light. So please, spare me the bullshit. Furthermore, just because you shoot at someone doesn’t mean you will hit them. A car, for instance is a 4,000 pound gun. Think about it.

While it could probably use a few more questions, the present form of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives asks the following questions (abbreviated) when you are purchasing a gun:

a. Are you the actual transferee/buyer?
b. Are you under indictment in any court of a felony?
c. Have you been convicted in any court of a felony?
d. Are you a fugitive from justice?
e. Are you an unlawful user of any controlled substance?
f. Have you ever been adjudicated as mentally ill?
g. Have you been dishonorably discharged from the military?
h. Are you under a court restraining order?
i. Have you ever been convicted of domestic violence?
j. Country of Citizenship?
k. Have you ever renounced your US citizenship?
l. Are you an alien illegally or unlawfully in the US?

There are more questions and I have abbreviated those above. What is obviously missing are required training courses without which a lot of people are going to end up shooting themselves in the foot.

How are you holding up under the attack of the ‘porno’ lawyers? Since it’s all about MONEY, what these ‘bimbo’ lawyers should do is to get a hold of Linda Tripp and jointly write a book or memoir about all of their client’s escapades and put it on the Super Market checkout Line for everyone to see. That should make them a lot of money.

Shades of Bill Clinton. Whatever happened to Ken Starr? Back in the day when Starr was running rampant doing his utmost to nail Clinton there was a survey conducted in our capital wherein 35,000 females were asked if they would have sex with the President; Bill Clinton. It was no surprise when 80% of the responders said, “Never again.”

I always thought that Anderson Cooper was a news reporter but as of late he seems to be more interested in landing a job with the National Enquirer.

Outlaw the Second Amendment just because a feeble minded ex-judge says so? I don’t think so. If you take the trouble to take a look around the planet you’ll find that ALL of the dictatorships, past and present, did not allow their people to own guns.

The VA is back in the news. Here is truly an army of professional bureaucrats that don’t seem to do anything except to sporadically dole out benefits to our veterans who would otherwise get them immediately if they were included in Medicare, as they should be. Did you know that the VA employs more civil service employees and other appointed individuals than there are in the entire armed forces of many countries? You don’t believe me? Google it.

You would think that Mark Zuckerberg would know better after his feet were held to the fire following his cavalier handling of lots and lots of personal data of which he self appointed himself as the the trustee of. But no. One of his junior executives shoots his mouth off in total arrogance which is another case of hubris gone wild.

This is America and if you can do well, the more power to you, but not necessarily at the expense of everyone else. I’m talking about Amazon. Even though I have stock in that company whatever deal they made with the Post Office, it should be looked into to make sure that the rest of us are not paying to make them more profitable
