Trading With the Enemy

I just don’t get it. Our administration (yes, the US administration) has been dangling the removal of sanctions against Iran if they promise to behave themselves vis-a-vis their nuclear program.

When I listen to all of this nonsense, I am reminded of a book which I still have in my library, “Trading With The Enemy”, which documents unbelievable contrivances between certain major US corporations and the axis powers during WWII by Charles Higham which was written in 1983. In this book there are enough plots and sub-plots for at least a dozen movies. When watching TV it is like the early and mid forties all over again. On the one hand the US is fighting Iran and on the other the US is allied with Iran. I just don’t get it.

Iran says that it wants the US to lift all sanctions BEFORE they sign off on a nuclear treaty, whose provisions are ay best tenuous, because the sanctions are strangling their economy and only hurting its citizens.

Why then is Iran meddling in the internal politics of its neighbors and sponsoring terrorist organizations throughout the region? Its latest foray is now in Yemen, which is next door to Saudi Arabia. Remove the sanctions? Duh!

Transparency, which our administration is foisting on police departments and other organizations across the country should be a two way street. Why do we have to find out what our administration is doing or is not doing from dignitaries of foreign countries or from reporters who know how to dig for the truth?

  1. A-MEN, brutha !! It seems more and more as if the walls are a-coming crumbling down around us. Oh, and the other thing the fearless Hussein of America made sure to do — is make it known that our ally Israel has quietly possessed nuclear weapons for 50 yrs….just to give those wonderful men in the headdresses a huge bargaining chip. If they get one, we get one too. One thing you have to say about HusseinO. – being a child himself, he understands little children’s rules of play.

  2. You raised good questions.

On the radio this morning, I heard from Roush Limbaugh that the Iranians have rejected some provisions of the agreement with John Kerry. You may want to check this out. The full agreement has not yet been made available. I suspect that the negotiators are still negotiating the details of the agreement. So pieces are being leaked. Typically the details of agreements are kept secret until both parties sign the agreement. However in this case, the Congress passed a bill to weigh-in. Obama said he will veto the weigh-in because it interferes with his ability to conduct foreign affairs. This is an agreement not a treaty so the Senate has no say. We shall see. The final date for negotiations was extended from 24 March to 31 March. Perhaps this date will also be extended.
