Politics and Stupidity

POLITICS AND STUPIDITY – WHAT THE F#@*&!^  (continued)

POLITICS

I really hate to get all political but it’s unavoidable these days.  All you have to do is to read the papers or watch TV to get caught up in all of it, and wonder what is going on.  Still ahead in the polls with his lead increasing, the pundits have yet to take Donald Trump seriously.  I always  say, beware of pontificators pontificating and besides, methinks they doth protest too much.

What I find strange is that the Republican frontrunner is basically ignored by his own party.  They even seem to be intent on making him ‘go away’.  What are they afraid of?  Is it because he is not born of the ‘beltway’ and therefore lacks the proper credentials to be taken seriously?  He may not have the support of his party but he does seem to have the support of the people.

All of this makes me think about two Frank Capra movies of 74 and 76 years ago; “Meet John Doe” and “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington”, which are essentially about two poor slobs under different circumstances trying to fight the system, or establishment.  Except this time our windmill fighting Don Quijote is not a poor slob but an unforgiving self made billionaire, ten times over, trying to right the wrongs of a few against the many.  As his base continues improving I think that we will see in the coming months a few Republicans break ranks and come around to support him.

STUPIDITY

Putting current politics aside, let’s dwell a bit on the international stupidity that seems to prevail in Washington.  What kind of stupidity – for there are many?  I’m talking about the Iran Nuclear ‘Deal’, what else?

No, I don’t think that Iran would be dumb enough to start a nuclear war with Israel as that  would be akin to committing suicide or signing their own death warrant.  But it will start off a ‘me too’ arms revolution in the mid-east.  What would happen next, is anyone’s guess.

I predicted weeks ago that once the sanctions on Iran are lifted, it would be the beginning of a ‘business comes first’ mentality where almost the entire planet, including the US mega corporations, would be looking forward to trading with the former ‘enemy’.  Case in point. The other week it was announced that one of the top Iranian generals, specifically named in the sanctions, paid a visit to Russia, ostensibly on an arms purchase junket before the ink on the   agreement dried. Once this floodgate opens, it will be virtually impossible to ‘snap back’ the sanctions as some of the fools in Washington proclaim how easy it would be to do.

In 1981 and again in 2007 Israel destroyed the fledgling Iraqi and Syrian nuclear facilities amidst cries of, “how could you do such a thing”, from the international community whereas in private they said, “boy are we glad you did it”. They were ready in 2008 to launch a similar pre-emptive attack on Iran (I have seen the tentative battle plans).  The prior US administration gave its tacit approval by sending two squadrons of F-22 Raptors to the Persian Gulf which were re-called in early 2009 under the pretext of being in need of maintenance.  That move signaled the end of any pre-emptive attack on the Iranian nuclear facilities.

  1. If Israel attacks Iran’s nuclear facilities, it will be done in such a way to amaze the world.
If Iran raises the hammer, Israel will attack. Now good news! Hamas has signed a peace agreement with Israel. The details are on the Internet but the agreement favors both sides. Hamas controls the Gaza Strip. Hezbollah controls Syria and Lebanon. They are different terrorist organizations. Hezbollah is supported by Iran. Hamas is constrained to the Gaza Strip. Both organizations could not agree on a peace treaty between them. Israel has the MOP bombs. They probably modified them. Iran knows this. Russia does not want a nuclear war. Putin wants to sell weapons, wants to keep the Crimea, and wants to acquire all of Ukraine. He has eyes on White Russia. Obama’s red lines are laughable.
