Prisoner’s Of War

Everyone knew that sooner or later, it was bound to happen. The other week it was finally revealed that a number of the ex-Guantanamo (Gitmo) retainees that were released both by Bush and the Big O, have returned to the battlefield. Surprise!

I have said a number of times over the past few years that if you are in a war, whether it be the war on drugs, the war against terrorists or terrorism or an honest to goodness plain old fashioned war like the kind that we grew up on; you DO NOT release your prisoners of war until the war is OVER. Period. End of story.

So why were they released while the war, or whatever you prefer to call it, is still raging? The excuse given by the administration of the Big O was that if they did not make that concession, it would have had a negative impact on the ongoing nuclear talks with Iran. Yeah, right. The truth of the matter is that they would still have fucked up even without the release of prisoners. The Iranians, the last that I heard, still had some captives, civilians no less, that they refused to part with until a large ransom was paid to Iran (the Big O called it something else). Think about it.
